Top 10 Reasons Premillennialism Is False

3/31/2016

I mentioned Premillennialism last Sunday in a sermon and thought I should give a summary for you to keep.  Premillennialism has many views, but in general is the teaching that God did not accomplish what was prophesied in the Old Testament, and therefore Christ will return for a “do over” where he will establish an earthly kingdom before his final return. All scripture is inspired and does not contradict other scripture, and I have included a few of the many verses which show this man made doctrine is not found in the Bible.
  1. Christ’s Kingdom is a spiritual kingdom, not a physical kingdom.
    1. John 18:36 Jesus states His kingdom is not of this world and is not from here.
  2. Christ’s kingdom has already been established and currently exists.
    1. Colossians 1:13, 1 Thessalonians 2:12, and Revelation 1:9 Reveal that Christ’s kingdom is already present and we do not have to wait for it to come.
  3. The Kingdom of Christ and His church are synonymous.
    1. Matthew 16:18-19 and John 3:5 teach that the church and the kingdom are one in the same, and the only way to enter into the kingdom / church is through being born again of water and the spirit.
  4. Christ’s kingdom is not earthly; therefore there can be no earthly reign.
    1. John 18:36 Jesus said his kingdom was not earthly. Since his Kingdom is spiritual, he will reign on a spiritual throne not an earthly throne.
  5. Christ’s kingdom will have no end therefore his reign will not end.
    1. Daniel 2:44 and Luke 1:32: Jesus kingdom will last forever and he will be given the throne of his father David. An earthly reign would not meet the description of an eternal reign or kingdom.
  6. Christ is currently reigning, and therefore will not begin his reign in the future.
    1. Acts 2:34-36, Hebrews 1:3, and Ephesians 1:20: Christ is currently reigning and is on his throne. We do not need to wait for Him to return in the future for a literal reign on earth.
  7. Christ cannot reign on the physical throne of David.
    1. Jeremiah 22:28 and Matthew 1:12: King Jehoiakim, the father of Coniah cut up and burned the word of God presented by Jeremiah, and was told no descendant of Coniah was eligible to sit on the earthly throne of David and reign. Christ is a descendant of Coniah, and therefore ineligible to sit upon David’s throne as an earthly king.
  8. Christ could not be High Priest on earth because He is of the tribe of Judah and not from the priestly Levitical tribe. He is currently High Priest over His spiritual Kingdom.
    1. Hebrews 8:1, Hebrews 8:4, Zechariah 6:12, and Hebrews 7:12-15: Christ is currently High Priest on the right hand of the throne of majesty in heaven. Levitical Priests were only of the Levite tribe. Christ was from the tribe of Judah and was therefore not eligible to be a priest on earth. However, scripture assures us he is the current High Priest, confirming His kingdom is spiritual not earthly.
  9. Christ will deliver the church when he returns.
    1. 1 Corinthians 15:24, Thessalonians 4:15-17, Ephesians 3:10-11: We have already shown the church and the Kingdom are one in the same. Scripture shows when Christ returns he will deliver the church / kingdom, not establish it. Therefore we can be confident He is not returning to establish and earthly reign.
  10. The kingdom (Church) was not an afterthought as proclaimed by Premillennialism.
    1. Ephesians 3:10-11: The church was eternally purposed by God. Being all knowing, God realized the necessity of a sinless sacrifice and salvation through his church.

What about the 1000 year reign mentioned in Revelation chapter 20

What about the book of Revelation? The word was given to John from God. Rev 1:1-2 God => Jesus => Angel => John=> to the paper. John was supposed to write down what he saw and not interpret what he saw. Premillennialism (Pre) looks at the literal compared to the figurative. The church Fathers believed in Pre vs Am. It looks like Augustine in 400s AD is the father of Am. Also, as the church moved away from Jewish customs and more towards Greek we see a move from Pre- to Am. -- Revelation 20 speak on the literal 1000 years. IF it wasn't literal, then why say 1000 years 6 times Rev 20:1-7. It doesn't seem to be figurative but more literal. -Doesn't amillennialism believe Satan was bound at the Cross? Where in the scriptures is this found? If so, then what about the demons seen later in the passages Acts 5:16,Acts 8:7, Act 16 & 19, then, we have Eph 6:10-12. Seemed like Satan still had influence after the Cross. Rev 20:1-3 speaks of Satan not having any influence during the 1000 years. So if Satan had influence right after the Cross, then, when was he supposed to no longer have influence?
